Class 56s in Scotland

Class 56s first started appearing regularly in Scotland in 1990 and spent the next ten years working MGR, cement and Enterprise services before EWS decided to concentrate the fleet elsewhere towards the end of 1999.  The year 2000 saw very little Grid activity north of the border but in 2001 the Class were once again making regular trips into Scotland, although during 2002 the number of visits dwindled, particularly with the loss of cement traffic to Freightliner.
